OUR STORY
The Village Coffeehouse exists to be a gathering place where shared lives exist by creating positive community, restoring significance, and contributing to the well-being of one another to the glory of God.
While this vision was officially born in the summer of 2018, our passion for authentic community has always been a part of who we are. As we began pursuing this vision, we asked ourselves “why”. Why respond by opening a coffee shop and bakery? Answering this question was sobering for our team. Our community lacked a positive gathering place where high-quality, accessible coffee and bakery products could be enjoyed. We were missing opportunities to tap into the talents and abilities of our neighbors. A fair chance hiring experience and accessible job opportunities did not exist. These, and so many other reasons, perpetuate the “Us vs. Them” culture that infects our society and ultimately creates tension and hostility.
So, we desire to meet people where they are in life. To better love our neighbors. To recognize those who are otherwise unseen. To bring unity in the midst of a diverse community. To discover and activate the best in every person. To create a culture of encounter where everyone is seen, valued, and given a fair shot in this world. And to passionately pursue this reality while providing excellent products and experiences.
We are instigated by what we believe to be true: that life is precious and worth living. We refuse to merely exist. Instead, we pursue a life of meaning and purpose, fulfillment and joy. The world is not yet as it ought to be. Neither is our city. Neither are we. Yet, we reject apathy and despair. We engage the world, our community, and one another to make an impact for good. So, we intend to press through narcissism, isolation and self-sufficiency, striving to live in authentic community
